We were fortunate enough to see the predatory Eartha Kitt stake her prey at the Cafe Carlyle, as well as attend her 80th birthday celebration at Carnegie Hall last year; and it's no exaggeration to state that we firmly believed she would live forever. When news of her death from colon cancer reached us, we were shocked, stunned, and most of all, saddened. Eartha Kitt never did anything quietly; she was less a sex kitten than a tigress. But we hope that she left this world peacefully, and we're sure it was with the feline grace that is synonymous with her name. We love you, Miss Kitt.
Sad news indeed. By pure coincidence, one of her songs was playing on your soundtrack as I read your tribute. She was her own invention, elegant and ferocious in equal measure.
amen
ReplyDelete(and I can half hear her voice purring that word with a double entendre)
You truly are blessed to have seen her...
