He either was a very smooth talker, or was amazing in the sack (he certainly wasn't particularly handsome) -- Barry also had a brief fling with Joan Crawford in the late forties. She broke it off when his creditors tried to repossess the expensive jewelry he had gifted her with!
Apparently upon being discovered, Susan beat her with a hair brush, tore the buttons off her blouse and caused Jil to fall backward and hit a coffee table. (all of this sounds like good practice for the her VOD - Neely O'Hara confrontation) The police were called and when ask how these two ladies came to be at Mr. Barry's at the same time, their response was, they came for a "cup of coffee." This gave Dietrich the opportunity to state, "That Don Bwarry, he must make sommmmme good cup of coffee!"
Who is Jil Jarmyn?
ReplyDeleteShe was a minor starlet in the fifties -- her credits include "Swamp Women" and "Tarzan's Fight for Life."
DeleteImagine quarreling over Red Barry! I'll have to look up some old pictures of him to see if it was worth it.

Delete" A Dear Jil " letter would have been an easier way to break it off, but not as much fun
