Shopping List

With the economy teetering precariously on the brink of ruin, I decided to spit in the winds of fate, and went on a minor shopping spree this weekend. My haul consisted of:

* A pair of handmade
Graziano & Girling shoes, from the absolutely fabulous Leffot boutique

* A
mink scarf

* A hand-woven Breuer wool tie in the most perfect shade of burnt orange imaginable

* A pocket square in an Art Deco pattern of bronze, brown, beige and burnt orange

* A Cartier money clip to replace the one I lost during a
Lost Weekend

* A bag of dark chocolate-dipped orange peel from
La Maison du Chocolat

* 3 vintage first editions:

Wanted: Girl with Glamour -- Careers in Modeling (1941)
Ann Sheridan & The Sign of the Sphinx (1943)
The Whole Truth and Nothing But - The Stories Behind Fifty Years of Headlines by Hedda Hopper (1963)

You'd think that I'd be most ecstatic over the mink or the handmade shoes, but honestly, I'm over the moon at finding a Nancy Drew-style girls' mystery story featuring "the authorized appearance of Ann Sheridan."

  1. You did have a fun weekend!

    I'm curious about the Hedda Hopper book.

  2. It's the infamous one wherein Hedda pretty much claims flat-out that Michael Wilding (aka Mr. Elizabeth Taylor #2) and Stewart Granger were lovers, and that she warned La Liz as much.

  3. didn't you mention somewhere that Hedda's son had a thing for Ironsides himself?
    Is that in her book? Is it in yours? Inquiring minds...and all that...

    Aaaaaaaaaaaaanyway...those shoes are lovely.
