Strange Bedfellows

"I'll have a nicer dressing room than you, because, let's face it -- I'm the star of the picture." -- Elizabeth Montgomery to Who's Been Sleeping in My Bed (1963) co-star Carol Burnett*

* Reportedly said in jest!

  1. I would think it was said in jest. According to comments I have read from both of them, they were very fond of each other.

    1. I'm 100% sure it was said in jest. I culled the quote from an interview Carol did with columnist Earl Wilson, and it's pretty clear that she was saying everything tongue-in-cheek.

  2. Liz and her husband William Asher were in the audience of the 3rd Carol Burnett Show in 1967 - and she introduces and chats with her about that movie in the opening chat.

    1. Didn't Carol mention their movie together, and Elizabeth said she once saw it on a plane and it was so bad she walked out? Maybe they didn't show that on the air, but I read about that somewhere.

    2. When, oh when, will those silly legalities be cleared up, so that the 1967-71 seasons of The Carol Burnett Show finally be properly reissued?!

    3. I had wondered why the older seasons never made it into syndication or onto VHS/DVD/etc. over the years. I did not realize it was legal issues. Do you know why there are issues with the earlier seasons and not the later ones?

    4. From what I understand, Carol controls the rights to the later seasons; but the first few seasons are owned by another production company (and not CBS, either). I read about in online, but of course, now I can't find or remember the source. A handful of the early episodes were licensed for the massive Carol Burnett Show box set last year, but I hope they ALL become readily available soon. There's a 1970 sketch I'm dying to see, where Carol, Eydie Gorme and Joan Rivers portray "Diane Rose and the Magnificent," a spoof on the Supremes!
