  1. O. M. G! The last one--THAT's the picture! I lost it when the computer crashed and have been unable to find it ever since. Thank you, TJB!

  2. They could have also shown up as faded royalty, the Duchess and Duchess of Something in The Poseidon Adventure. But they would have probably refused to climb the tree.

  5. I like Joan, but dearly love Olivia. Joan's great, albeit mousy as hell in Rebecca, but I can forgive her that, it's the character. Olivia just seems to be so much more of a trooper, rolling around in that plane in Airport Whatever, high gothic camp in Hush Hush. The Heiress and The Light in the Piazza...sublime.

  6. Hannah, I understand... I always disliked Joan because I never cared for her ninny-ish, plain Jane roles: "Rebecca" the most famous example, of course. But I've revised my opinion of her based on finally seeing her rather fabulous, later performances, when she finally let her bitchiness and archness come through. These films aren't nearly as revered as her earlier classics, but to my eyes, they're infinitely more entertaining!

  7. If you search,"Arlene Dahl And Gloria Dehaven Speak About Joan Crawford" on YouTube you'll see Arlene tell a spicy story where Joan Crawford hurls a glass of red wine onto the white satin dress of Arlene Dahl's and Joan Fontaine calls Miss Crawford a B-I-T-C-H!

  8. I think I will have a look at her later films then, as I just cannot stand the dull women she usually played!
