That was marvelous, TJB. Seeing Cy Coleman performing his own tunes was an unexpected treat. He puts them across with real style. Excellent composer, and I notice that among the many songs performed by Mabel Mercer at Cleo's in the late 1970s the majority were composed by Cy Coleman. There's no greater distinction, in my book.
I love Cy Coleman! These are some great videos! I'm embarrassed to admit it, but Playboy's Penthouse actually looks like how I'd like to spend my weekends. What happened to having fun like an adult? The parties I've been to recently felt like high school functions except for the fact that everyone was drinking legally. Sooo not glamourous.
AtStirred, Straight Up, with a Twist, it helps to remember that it is permanently 1962 (give or take a decade); and that the problems of the real world can be solved with a touch of glamour and a dash of style.
Thanks for visiting, have fun, and please feel free to add your wit and sparkle to the proceedings!
That was marvelous, TJB.

ReplyDeleteCy Colman was truly one of the greats.
ReplyDeleteOften overshadowed but bigger names but he wrote some great tunes.
I should add that Joey Heatherton - "I've Got Your Number" on youtube is very cute:
