Granted, it's Gogi!

Don't you just love her name? Besides the mega-hit "The Wayward Wind," Gogi also supplied Ann Blyth's singing voice for The Helen Morgan Story film; Polly Bergen sang and acted as Morgan in a TV bio around the same time, but that's another story.

We love you, Gogi -- your very name is resplendent of another era; one infinitely more glamorous than our own.

  1. Great song, it would be nice if it was re-released.

  3. Supposedly, Gogi was named after a restaurant her agent frequented. I'll bet it had great banquettes, great wallpaper, and great Lobster Thermidor!

  4. And Steak Diane! But first you'd sit at the bar for some highballs. Oh, and they had great matchbooks, too. Right by the cigarette machine.

And a sad and lonely coat check girl.

  5. Ha ha!

Steak Diane...you know, once a year, I make a pilgrimage to '21'. It gets its share of tourists, but you still get the aura of Nelson Rockefeller, Joan Crawford and Earl Wilson there. Plus, the Steak Diane is outta sight!
