I guess not, must have been thinking of Claudette Colbert... sorry! To make up for it, here's the caption that goes with the photo...
Update: The caption information on the back of the photo, stamped Oct. 15, 1950, says, “Unimpressed by the celebrated glamour of his opponent, many Hollywood celebrities are working energetically to elect Rep. Richard Nixon to the United States Senate. Here are a trio who have teamed up to work in the Nixon-for-Senator campaign: Irene Dunne, Louise Beavers and Hedda Hopper.”
Nixon ran against Helen Douglas, an actress, who was the first person to label him "Tricky Dick."
Wow - some terrific images there... pity that one photo of Monroe and Taylor together (at that 1961 Sinatra gig) isn't better quality. Marilyn certainly wanted Liz off the world's magazine covers when she stripped off in the pool in '62. Somethings Gotta Give indeed... but she looked better than ever!
Meant to add - when the Cleopatra shoot was over-running in Rome in 62 same time as MM was doing that unfinished Cukor film. They remade it the next year with Doris Day - Move Over Darling! I never wanted to see it.
strange indeed.
ReplyDeletedo we know if ginger was pleasant?
Weren't Irene Dunne and Louise Beavers in a film together?
