Somehow I don't really believe that Ivor Novello wrote lyrics in the style that Jason suggests! Though I have heard the music to Gay's the Word and it was anything but. Cicely played Madame Arcati in the London production of High Spirits, an experience that left her with lasting contempt for her director, Mr Noel Coward.
AtStirred, Straight Up, with a Twist, it helps to remember that it is permanently 1962 (give or take a decade); and that the problems of the real world can be solved with a touch of glamour and a dash of style.
