I wonder if I'll ever get to see Lana's ill-fated TV show "The Survivors" -- er, excuse me, "Harold Robbins' The Survivors!" (The last picture is from publicity for it.) It was allegedly one of the most expensive TV shows ever up to that time, but a jumbled mess. DVD please!
Poseidon3 -- I don't know if I'm recalling this incorrectly, but I seem to remember reading somewhere that all existing footage of "The Survivors" was destroyed. I have no idea if I'm just imagining that.
I could swear that a small clip was shown on either a Lana Biography or an Intimate Portrait or what have you. It was on film! I would hope it's somewhere... <:-0
Interesting, vintage Time magazine article on the troubled shooting of The Survivors here: http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,901190,00.html
Oooooh. Thanks for that article. So many issues with the show! Spoiled by committee it seems. And, of course, around that time Lana was pretty picky about her clothes and such. I recall her walking off of "Anatomy of a Murder" when she and Otto P. tangled over her clothes and he spoke to her roughly. He wanted "off the rack" and she wanted imitations of off the rack, done up by a dressmaker. ("Imitations of Rack"?!) I got that HUGE new book about her for Christmas, but haven't read it yet. Pictures GALORE....

ReplyDeleteWasn't the equally blonde, equally fucked up Jan Michael Vincent in "The Survivors?" I'm too lazy to look it up, so I'll just say he was.
