Inn of Tomorrow

Perfect in its mid-century hideousness, we would have liked to have stayed here for just one night, enjoying a Grasshopper and a few Kools in the cocktail lounge before retiring to our Magic Fingers-optional bed.
THANKS
How fierce. It's still tomorrow in Stovall. I'm sure the original architect's renderings did NOT include those fake topiaries (what are they? Llamas?) and the stupid split log planters and icicle lights around the edge of the porte cochere.
ReplyDeleteThis really is a sort of perfection.
ReplyDeletePeenee -- I'm sure the "confirmed bachelor" night manager added his own je ne sais quois to the decorating.
ReplyDeleteThombeau -- Whee!!! Let's all take a road trip!
It's all about the parabolic arch back there.
ReplyDeleteThat's tomorrow in a nutshell.
If I'm not mistaken, that hotel was right across the street from Disneyland in Anaheim. Don't think it exists anymore, but I'm not positive. Haven't been to that neck of the CA woods since the mid '90's. I remember desperately wanting to stay there as a wee P. Imagine, a space age hotel & D'Land all @ once?
ReplyDeleteA kid's head could explode!
I think, unless it's actually 1964, the Inn of Tomorrow is probably a sad affair.
ReplyDeleteWhich could also be said of Disneyland, I s'pose.
