I saw her in 2007, when she performed her one woman cabaret show. Tams had a slight case of the shakes, but she gave a very good performance. I see her mad hatter of a daughter around town sometimes, too.
I'm not making a negative remark here but could someone please explain the attraction of Tammy Grimes? I lived through--and ignored--her Broadway triumphs (?). Was she truly talented? Or someone who had her couple of seasons--and Tonys--in the limelight for whatever reasons.
Fredn - She's definitely not for everyone. And there's no middle ground: you either love her or hate her. I happen to love her. I really only know her through her recorded work, which I adore, and the cabaret show I mentioned above. Her film and TV appearances have mostly escaped my notice - except for her unfortunate appearance in Can't Stop the Music and her disastrous, self-titled 1966 sitcom, which may possibly be the most expensive, yet unfunny sitcom ever made.
I adore Liz Montgomery, and her girl-next-door, cool blonde persona gave Bewitched its strongest appeal - but you can see where the producers got the idea of casting Tammy originally. She certainly would have been the logical product of Endora! But the yin-and-yang of Liz & Agnes made for delightful contrast. A shame Tams didn't pick a better project for herself after turning it down...
