My grandfather hated Jeanette MacDonald, called it bird singing.
Never was a fan, but it doesn't stop me from watching "San Francisco" every time it's on!
Judy has always been my favorite, but I've loved Jeannette since I was young also - especially her version of "San Francisco". I remember being taken aback when I first played Judy's arrangement, but had to laugh when she mocked how J. "stood there in the ruins and sa-a-n-gn". I like to get my fix of Jeannette's version every couple of years plus a look at Gable's grin.
