"When you have lived the life I've lived, when you've loved and suffered, and been madly happy and desperately sad -- well, that's when you realize you'll never be able to set it all down. Maybe you'd rather die first."
By that time of her life, she seemed to look 20 years older than her actual age. Amazing she was only in her late 40s when she died. I wonder how she would have looked with hair and makeup that wasn't so harsh, and with a little more weight.
i loved her since the first time i heard her singin...when i first saw her performing i thought i had not enough neurons to be stimulated...read all i could about her... and thank her a lot for the great amounts of pleasure i still every time i listen to her on " the man that got away" , "it' s a new world"or " when you' re smiling"...gosh!, what a woman!

ReplyDeleteYes, it's sad that she was so young when she died, yet looked like she'd lived four lifetimes. What a sad, sad life that poor woman had.
ReplyDeleteSuch an expressive face she had.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite quotes by her:
ReplyDelete"Behind every cloud, there's another cloud"
So much talent. So much. That frail body and all that energy. Her voice was like a magic trick she did, over and over.
