"Our Miss Brooks" was one of my favorite shows as a pre-schooler, but it was when I later saw her earlier film performances as the wise-cracking sidekick that my appreciation for Eve Arden really soared.
I recently came off a marathon session of watching the DVDs from "The Mothers-in-Law". Eve and Kaye Ballard were so cute in those, and Eve could high-kick with the best of them in the occasional 'musical numbers!'
AtStirred, Straight Up, with a Twist, it helps to remember that it is permanently 1962 (give or take a decade); and that the problems of the real world can be solved with a touch of glamour and a dash of style.
Thanks for visiting, have fun, and please feel free to add your wit and sparkle to the proceedings!
seems it still is all about her.

ReplyDeleteAn older gentleman friend of mine once told me that he suspected I was the illegitimate offspring of Eve Arden and Martha Plimpton.
ReplyDeleteBest compliment I ever received.
What a gal. One of the great wise-cracking dames. It took a lot of skill to deliver her lines the way she did, and have the audience still love her.
ReplyDeleteLOVE. HER.
