A Long Time Ago...

...in a galaxy far, far away.

  1. I just adore Faye in her late 60s goddessy period. Glamour with a capital G ! I used to have a still of her from De Sica's dreadful A Place For Lovers (1969) on my wall then. (She is dying of a rare disease in this one but at least gets Marcello Mastroianni!).

  2. Wasn't she involved with Marcello at the time? I'm getting my late '60s blonds all mixed up.

I watched the original Thomas Crown Affair not too long ago and was just amazed by her hair and wardrobe. But the '60s were a different time, of course. One in which an insurance investigator would wear couture daywear and spend hours a day having an elaborate updo concocted, the better to charm her quarries with.

  3. Gorgeous apart from a mouth like a racehorse.

  4. She even managed to look elegant in "Network" where everyone else looked as if they were wearing polyester-covered sheetrock.

  5. Michael - I've always wanted to see that, and Puzzle of a Downfall Child. The latter had a screening here in NYC last month, and I didn't know about it until after the fact!

Topaz - She was like a living, breathing edition of Women's Wear Daily, vintage 1968, in that film, wasn't she?

Rose - I'll still take Faye's thoroughbred mouth over, say, Julia Roberts' plow horse one.

marksparky - Yes... what the hell happened afterwards?!
