"Miss Hayward was very unkind to me on the set of Where Love Has Gone [1964]...I didn't know until later that she had been called 'The Poor Man's Bette Davis.'" - Bette Davis
I've heard 'ol Bette tore her wig off and threw it at Hayward on the set, screeching "Why don't you play BOTH parts?" Whereupon Susan walked off the set, muttering under her breath. Shouted Bette:"What was that, Miss Hayward?" Susie's reply: "I said BITCH! And that's what you are--an old bitch!"
Hayward was so much more beautiful than Davis...and she was a great actress too...Davis must have been jealous of her...Susan was tpo pbilled in "Where love has gone" above Davis and Miss Bette must have resented that ..She had been billed above Crawford and de Haviland in former films ...but there, she had to surrender to a bigger box office star: the one and only redhead of them all:miss Susan Hayward.
Amazing picture of Bette. I have to agree Bette was the better actress xx
