Knock, Knock...Who's There?

Of course!

The very name Ruth Chatterton is redolent of days long gone by...fairly reeking of class and refinement. I remember being fascinated by her name as a child, but aside from her 1929 version of Madame X, I'm sadly unaquainted with most of her film work. She was highly successful, though, first at Paramount and then at Warners (where she and Kay Francis were recruited to class the joint up a bit). Ruth retired from films in 1938, and died in 1961.
