Besides being exceptionally, nearly ridiculously beautiful, Alain Delon is one of the most stylish men to ever stride across this mortal coil. One of the most influential films on our young gay life was Purple Noon (1960), the original film version of The Talented Mr. Ripley.
It probably says something about our warped priorities that, despite Delon's eye-popping handsomeness, we were simply ga-ga over the clothes.
The man simply could not look bad if he tried, but he wore clothes with a panache that few men could touch, with a uniquely Gallic flair which made him stand apart from the crowd, even in traditional black tie.
Of course, he also looked just splendid in trunks...
Time is often unkind to great beauties, but Alain Delon has aged more gracefully than his youthful pornographic perfection would suggest. He celebrates 73 years of stylishness this November, and we wish him many, many more.
Was at a party in Milan during fashion week some time ago, when someone pointed out Delon's son in the room. Very handsome but still too young to compare to Daddy.
ReplyDeleteGo-go dancing for Phyllis Diller and Richard Long...now this. Dray, you never cease to amaze me!
ReplyDeleteAlmost died with the Tom of Finland pic. Yummy! But I disagree, many other beauties ages more gracefully than he did.
ReplyDeleteWE women love him too, what a BEAUTY!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteNo-one like him, to me, apart from beauty, which is obvious.
ReplyDeleteHis glance, his turned-up eyes, his arched eyebrows, that was the touch of madness and sharpness to a babyface, so that he was able to play goody-two-shoes roles as well as wicked-psycho-mental ones, the latter ones being those he became famous for.
