My partner was a broke director in the mid-sixties who was friends with the "Mame" stage manager, who'd sneak him in each time a new Mame took over.
He reports that when Miller took over, a bit was added after "That's How Young I Feel" in which a chorus boy would run into the wings and return with a pair of tap shoes on a velvet pillow.
Miller would feign surprise eight times a week, slip into the shoes, and launch into an "impromptu" tap number as the crowd went apeshit!
AtStirred, Straight Up, with a Twist, it helps to remember that it is permanently 1962 (give or take a decade); and that the problems of the real world can be solved with a touch of glamour and a dash of style.
Thanks for visiting, have fun, and please feel free to add your wit and sparkle to the proceedings!
Great photo!
