Crewe Cuts

You may not know the name, but you definitely know Bob Crewe's contributions to pop music: think practically the entire Frankie Valli & The 4 Seasons catalog from 1962 to 1967. In fact, Crewe is listed as the official lyricist for the wildly successful Jersey Boys musical based on The 4 Seasons' story. It tickles us to know that the Badda-Bing, Badda-Boom crowd who make up the vast majority of this show's audience (we know...we've seen it) are enjoying the lyrical contributions of an audacious, out and proud homo who originally suggested that The 4 Seasons record their #1 hit, "Sherry," with the gender-bending twist of "Perry"!

Crewe also had a smash hit himself, the infectious instrumental "Music to Watch Girls Go By." Looking at all the clean-cut handsomeness surrounding Bob on the album cover, we can only imagine what his casting process was like.
