I'm guessing that it's from a 1963 guest appearance she made on Wagon Train. That, or she was angling to get Joan Crawford's eventual lead as the ringmaster in Berserk.
I about fell off my couch yesterday when I turned on the "Password" recorded from the previous night on GSN and there she was as the guest!!!!! It was @ 1967 and she looked great in deep red. Douglas Fairbanks jr was the male celeb. Both of them suffered from nicoteeth, though.
1967 was a happening year for La Fontaine - there's also a clip of her co-hosting The Mike Douglas Show on YouTube from that same year. She begins in grande dame fashion, doing a plummy recitation of the lyrics to "September Song"; but then gets "with it" and demonstrates the Boogaloo and the Frug!
This is unexpected and bizarre and I'm wondering what on Earth it was for!

ReplyDeleteShocking in the extreme! My world is topsy turvy.
ReplyDeleteJOAN! I'm shocked and appaled. Get back on your meds this very moment.
ReplyDeleteLooks as if she already had one too many!
ReplyDeleteThere's something rather wrong about this entire endeavor. Therefore, I like it!
