Gloria Swanson,
Marion Davies,
Constance Bennett and
Jean Harlow at Davies' Alpine-themed party, 1936. Leave it to Connie to say, "Screw the Swiss Miss shit, I look lousy in lederhosen. Marie, lay out my new Vionnet satin. That Swanson'll be be gnashing her teeth."
Now that's some high priced spread.
ReplyDeleteI want those lederhosen
ReplyDeleteWasn't Connie noted for being one of THE fashionable stars? Or was it just highly paid? Then again, Glo was no slouch when it came to clothing either and she dressed up!
ReplyDeletei have nothing to say.
ReplyDeleteSomewhere there is a photo of Mistress MJ wearing her German friend's dirndl.
ReplyDeleteIf only I could find it.
THESE are the ultimate in lederhosen.
ReplyDeleteJust look at poor Ms. Harlow's misshapen, boney, knee. You know today they can correct that sort of thing; back then all they could do is dress her in floor length gowns and hope the hemlines stayed as low as the GNP.
ReplyDeleteMiss Gloria Swansondinners is looking a bit odd, though. Maybe she had just spied Joe Kennedy putting on a lampshade or something...
Perhaps Constance was going as Eva Braun, overdressed as usual at Berchtesgarden.
