The brilliant Moss Hart wrote such masterworks as The Man Who Came to Dinner and directed such mega-hits as My Fair Lady. He was also a closet queen who spent most of his adult life in therapy, trying to "control" his "impulses."

Despite his struggles with sexuality, Hart married actress Kitty Carlisle in 1946; they epitomized the glamour of New York cafe society, and were together until Moss Hart's death of heart failure in 1961.

IF YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE A "BEARD," SHE MAY AS WELL BE A FABULOUS ONE.

Two years after his death, Moss Hart was portrayed by George Hamilton in the screen version of his autobiography, Act One. Hamilton was quite a dish, before he became a parody of himself. We're sure Moss would have approved of the casting.

Kitty Carlisle Hart went on to become a beloved TV icon, perform with the Metropolitan Opera, and give New York society a gracious, glamorous face. She passed away at her home in 2007, at the age of 96.
