Great Guns

Hot Summer Night (1956, MGM)
dir.: David Friedkin
James Best as Kermit
Leslie Nielsen as William Joel Partain
Colleen Miller as Irene Partain

It must be mentioned that James looked Best when sexily brandishing his, er, gun.

He did pretty well in the manhandling department, as well.

ABOVE: James Best menacing Mala Powers as a Man on the Prowl (1957, UA)

But even in standard dreamboat mode, he still packed heat.

It's no small irony, then, that Mr. Best, typed in his Hollywood heyday as a sexy bad boy (sometimes borderline psychotic in his swarthy intensity), went on to become best known as the bumbling backwoods Sheriff Rosco Coltrane on The Dukes of Hazzard.

There ain't no justice.

Ten Cents a Dance

Ten cents a dance
that's what they pay me,
gosh, how they weigh me down!
Ten cents a dance
pansies and rough guys
tough guys who tear my gown!
Seven to midnight I hear drums.
Loudly the saxophone blows.
Trumpets are tearing my eardrums.
Customers crush my toes.
Sometime I think
I've found my hero,
but it's a queer romance.
All that you need is a ticket
Come on, big boy, ten cents a dance.

Lyrics by Lorenz Hart

Pretty Maids All in a Row

Dewey Fresh

Tennessee Champ (1953, MGM)
dir.: Fred Wilcox
Dewey Martin as Tennessee Champ

Earl Holliman as Happy Jackfield

Tab Gets Around

Tab has the weenie, but Roddy takes the cake.

Tab and Tony with their favorite Bearded lady, Venetia Stevenson (courtesy of HOLE IN THE HEAD)

"Dammit, Nat, at least Tony puts some spunk into it!"

Tab and Rudy: who was the bigger star?

Tab and Divine: chemistry so intense you could smell it.
