Glamazons
ABBE LANE
I'm convinced that the only reason these ladies didn't become superstars was because they were simply Too Much Woman for most people to deal with. They had their measure of success, of course; Abbe was a very popular nightclub singer, Tina became a television icon after being stranded on Gilligan's Island (after, incidentally, Jayne Mansfield turned the role down), and Anita Ekberg was featured in the classic Fellini flick, La Dolce Vita (1960). But they never scaled the heights of a Monroe, Taylor or Loren that their talent and charms would indicate they were capable of. Let us pay tribute to these delicious examples of pre-Silicone pulchritude. Va-va-va-voom!
